Short and Sweet

40 game minutes (which equals about 90 real time minutes) later my legs want to murder me. I better sleep with one eye open tonight, seriously I am not kidding. Ok you're right I doubt my legs are going to detach from my body and strangle me but rest assured if they could they would. I played the whole game tonight, which isn't a big deal typically. But the team we played full court pressed the whole game and usually had 2 and half girls guarding me. Its part of the game though and its what I love about it. But I do hate to lose, which is what happened tonight. People told me I had a good game but we will lost and I take blame, I always will. In the end we lost by 11, we didn't play the best and I know we can play better. Practice tomorrow we have to come ready to go, ready to learn and ready to improve.
On another note its starting to get colder here, I am not sure if I packed enough sweatshirts. Hopefully people do not make fun of me when they see me wearing the same things every other day. Oh well they already look at me weird, I am getting use to it. I was really excited to find out the team has a "Gun" the shooting machine! I went in this morning and was able to shoot on it, will probably try and do it everyday. I better warn my arms and shoulders now, or they could be in the same boat at my legs. Don't worry I am treating my body to a hot tub tomorrow before practice. And tonight after the game a "treated" them to an ice bath. How can they be that mad at me?
Well like the title says this is going to be short and sweet, so I am ending it here. Not sure how many readers I have but you have any questions just ask I will try and answer them in my future posts!

Until next time.. have a great day and take care!

Manic Mondays...

Its a beautiful Monday here in Iceland, about 45 degrees and the sun is shining. This is a nice day here, yes I said 45 degrees is nice! Today has been a a busy day so far. I woke up at 7:30 this morning and decided since I was awake I would send some emails out to figure out the status of some of my things here in Iceland. By 11 I got a phone call that my car was ready and someone would be by soon to pick me up to take me to it. I got a nice VW car, its a standard and they were surprised when I told them that I knew how to drive it. Once I got my car I made a trip to the bank and got my account set up as well as exchanged some money. I felt like such an idiot and a tourist cause I had to ask the people i was talking to if they spoke English, I am sure they hated me. After that I went to the grocery store and picked up a few things. Well actually a few things turned into a lot of things, and a cart full later I had spent $60. Oh well at least I have food in my apartment now. We had practice this evening at 6pm, and after practice I went with a couple of my teammates to the fitness center across the street and sat in the hot tubs.. it felt amazing and I think my body appreciates it. I then went home, one of my teammates gave me a new TV, it was much bigger than the first one I got and I am pretty pumped about. I got it all set up this evening and went to turn it on with the remote (which is the only way it will turn on) and the batteries were dead, guess I will have to get some new ones before I will get to enjoy the big screen. I cooked myself dinner tonight, spaghetti with some garlic bread. It was delicious although it needed some salt which was something I didn't find or get at the store, oh well I still enjoyed it. We have a game tomorrow so I am getting ready to head to bed. I will update you after the game and let you know how we did.. until then have a great day and take care!
That's my car! A VW Polo, pretty sweet!

Well hello! For starters I do not have phone service like I originally thought I would. I do have an cell phone for Iceland though, that should be interesting to use. So I ended up getting into Iceland about 7:30am, the airport was about 45 minutes from where I am living so I got to see a little of the "country" side during the drive. There are like no trees. It was like landing on the moon or something, just lava rock everywhere. But once I got into the "cities" more like small towns it was different. More green grass and stuff like that. So my apartment is pretty nice. Most of the houses here look from the outside like apartments or duplexes. My apartment is below this family that is associated with the Basketball team, and their daughter plays on the team, so that makes it nice since I will know someone so close. The apartment is pretty big, and they went to IKEA and bought my a bunch of furniture and stuff to go into it, so its pretty sweet. A lot of the houses I have been in, which is like 3, have looked like they came straight out of an IKEA magazine. Its cold here, been in the lower 40's and rainy, but still a lot of sunlight so far. As far as food, yesterday for lunch one of my teammates took me to the mall food court and I was able to choose between Sbarro, Subway, McDonalds, or Dominos.. Am I in America? And then last night for dinner we went to the combo KFC/Taco Bell, so much for giving their cuisine a try. We had practice yesterday to teach me the plays, there was only like 4 of them so it took me a whole 5 minutes to learn, the coach was impressed. I told him I had about 200 plays in college so learning 4 was pretty easy. The coach told me that he is going to need me to play about 35-40 minutes a game, nothing like jumping right in. Good thing I packed 2 tubes of Icy Hot instead of just one. One other thing, I got my gym membership to this place next to our gym. They are obsessed with swimming pools here, that's all they would talk about. But also at the gym, behind the desk where you check in, is a huge variety of metroplex, muscle milk, all kinds of stuff made me laugh, I guess the US isn't the only place that uses all that stuff. We had our first game this evening and won by 25 points. I didn't shot the ball well from the 3-point line but still ended the game with 24 pts. To go along with that I had 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals. First time I have ever done something like that in my career. We have practice tomorrow morning at 9am, a little early for my likings but its part of the job. With that I think I am going to head to bed.
Until next time... Take Care
